  This video will introduce you to the The NYC Compost Project Master Composter Certificate Program which is an advanced composting course that trains a select group of New Yorkers every year to support, develop, and maintain community-based composting projects across all five boroughs. The course requires 24 hours of classroom instruction, two field trips, 30 hours of compost-related fieldwork, and a final project.     This is a video about the Joe Holzka Community Garden in Staten Island, NY showing the lush greenery, abundance of vegetables grown there and the community gardeners who make it all happen. The gardeners capture rainwater, compost their garden waste and use companion planting and vertical planters to increase production. Staten Island’s North Shore Community Supported Agriculture Group

  The Staten Island CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a neighborhood group that joins with a regional farmer in a mutually beneficial partnership, there are no middlemen or  employees. Members receive organic produce every week by purchasing a share in the farmer’s harvest at the start of the growing season, when the farmer has to pay most of the expenses (seed, soil, fertilizer).
